Fench regions - Aquitaine
The region of Aquitaine, located in the south-western corner of France, is a land of grand sloping Bordeaux vineyards, large forests, mountains, the plateaux of the Périgord and luxurious seafront resorts.
With 150 miles of sandy heath land along the coasts of the Basque country and white Atlantic beaches, fishing ports and spas. Nearby, are the prehistoric Lascaux grottoes. Visit villages with a wealth of architectural styles where bastides and chateaux are perched on craggy summits.
Sample great French cuisine flavoured with truffles. In the Arcachon basin, eat oysters with delicious white wines, or visit Bordeaux, the land of great wines.
Aquitaine comprises of the Dordogne, Gironde, Landes and the Lot et Garonne departments. From Bordeaux to Biarritz, it has a long and flavourful history.
