French regions - Burgundy

A region of great art and the pleasure of living, Burgundy unite the beauty of its nature and heritage with the excellent of its wines and gastronomy.

You can discover Burgundy through its vineyards. Chablis, Mâconnais and Côtes de Nuits fashion the region's history and reputation. There are the vineyards of the Côte de Chablis, the mysterious forests of the Regional Park of the Morvan, the opulent Bresse and the luminous Loire Valley.

The Norman abbeys, glazed roof châteaux, ducal towns and charming villages make Burgundy a historical region with a glorious heritage. Art is clearly apparent in Nevers, city of earthenware and pottery, Beaune is the wine capital with its Hospices (almshouses) and Dijon is an outstanding historic and artistic capital. Auxerre has its quays and Mâcon has its wines and its feel of the south.

Many towns can be explored by boat on the canals. There's nothing like a bicycle for finding picturesque villages complete with their vineyards. Whether hiking in the Morvan or cruising down the Yonne, the countryside exudes a feeling of calm. Burgundy has a natural beauty at any season.

Burgundy has 4 departments, the Cote d’Or, Nievre, Saone et Loire and the Yonne.
